Project Name: Design Review and Construction Supervision of Batumi Bypass Road

Name of Client: Roads Department of Georgia

Country: Georgia

Duration: 09/2017-10/2024

The 81 km Poti–Batumi–Sarpi road, which runs along Georgia’s western coast, primarily in the Ajara Autonomous Republic, serves as a major highway and international transit route. It connects Georgia's key Black Sea ports, Batumi and Poti, and several beach resorts, including Batumi and Kobuleti. In recent years, increased traffic, particularly during the tourist season, has led to significant congestion and accidents in Batumi and Kobuleti. To alleviate these issues, a new bypass road will reroute traffic east of Batumi. Located entirely in the Khelvachauri District, this bypass follows a new alignment through densely populated areas. It begins at km 91 of the Senaki-Poti-Sarpi road near the village of Makhinjauri and ends at km 4 of the Batumi-Akhaltsikhe Secondary Road (Project Chainage 13+325). The new dual carriageway bypass spans 14.325 km and includes 5 tunnels (totaling 3,808 meters), 19 bridges (totaling 4,256 meters), and 3 interchanges.

Project name Rogun Hydropower Plant Project (HPP)

The project consists of the construction of a 335-metre-high clay core rockfill dam, the tallest in the world, on the Vakhsh River. The dam will be located in Rogun, a District of Republican Subordination, one of Central Asia's main mountain ranges.

The most significant impact of the new dam will be to make Tajikistan a point of reference for the energy sector in the region, doubling energy production in the country and strongly contributing to the reduction of power shortages suffered during the winter months.
